Terry-Anne looked at her beginner's class. They were sweaty, tired, and flustered. "Okay, go wash up. The lesson's over," she told them briskly. The students all left gratefully, grabbing their already sweaty towels on the way. It'd only been an hour and Terry-Anne hadn't even warmed up, but these were beginners, and to them the moves she took them through were hard. Her policy had always been beginners in the morning. Show commitment before getting the part of her day most valuable. Plus she didn't like to perspire before midday. This was her last class before her lunch break.
It was hot outside so she went into her personal backroom and changed into her favorite yellow-orange outfit. She looked in the mirror and tied her finishing touch of a white bow at the top of her head. Perfect, she thought. Attaching a small pouch of coins to her belt, Terry-Anne set out of her shop in search of a new meal. She checked the sun's position once she was outside of her studio. It was around noon. Yeah, it was reasonable for her to be hungry.

[style=float: left; margin: 0 5 0 3; border: 1.5px forestgreen solid; height: 100px; width: 100px;] blockquote. He finally had a day off. It had been a while since Jaidev could return home and relax. It wasn't like he had any family to visit or anything, but it was still to be able to just...put his feet up for a spell. Not have to kill anyone.
He enjoyed that part the most. Jaidev actually hated senseless violence and death, a cruelly ironic fact in his life. Then again, most mercenaries and/or assassins are this way, at least in his experience. They either don't care, or try not to. For some, it worked. Others broke. Jaidev couldn't afford to break, so he tended to fall into the latter group while on the job.
But he wasn't on the job now. Still, to keep his sanity he didn't let the memories of his latest job come up. For the time being, he just sat out of a diner, since they had both outdoor and indoor tables, leaning back in his chair with his eyes closed. He wasn't looking for any trouble, and really he hardly was. He just didn't sit by and let it happen either. His sword lay across his lap, on display for a reason. It served as a more than decent warning to people who might consider sneaking up on him.
Jaidev opened his eyes when the waitress brought him a glass of water. He flashed her a grateful and charming grin, flipping a coin at her for a tip. She had been taken off guard, but caught the coin anyway and scurried away in shock. What? Did people not give tips anymore? He shrugged and took a sip from his glass. It was blistering hot, as usual. This was a desert country. But the heat hardly bothered him, he grew up here. But he still had the brains to keep hydrated.
He actually missed the heat.
It had been a few months since he'd been gone...almost a year. This last job was one that took a lot of team work and strategy to get it done cleanly, and all the other mercenaries agreed on that method. He almost joined their team, but they were Frelia-based. He didn't want to live that far away from the country he loved the most. Jaidev glanced up from his glass when he heard footsteps, and he blinked to clear his eyes and make sure he was seeing what he thought he was seeing.
Terry?
The Arthfael girl? He blinked again and sure enough, it was Terry-Anne Arthfael. She was only a year younger than him, they grew up together in a way. Though they rarely ever played together, and Jaidev's crowd didn't mix with her's often if at all, Jaidev knew her very well. Just from a distance. She looked like she was looking for a place to eat.... "Hey! Terry!" He called to get her attention, waving in a friendly greeting. "Been a long time hasn't it?" He added, a small grin forming on his face. He wouldn't be surprised if she didn't recognize him. Even when he came home he really didn't talk to her at all. "Getting lunch?"

Terry-Anne walked for a while, looking for where she wanted to go eat. She just wasn't sure what she was in the mood for today. She paused near three restaurants that were close to each other for competition's sake, and pondered. It was always so clear when she was thinking, and it was something that bothered her. She wanted to seem strong and independent, not like she needed help. Her finger was resting on her chin, right below her mouth as she bit her lower lip. What do I want to eat today? she thought silently. Hmm... I'm not feeling noodles... their chicken specials really aren't what I'm craving today. Their too spicy... Hmm...
"Hey! Terry!"
"Huh?" She turned on her heel to find a man with green hair waving at her. She squinted to try to see details, sure she recognized him from somewhere, but she didn't know anyone of that particular build that lived around here anymore. She looked around for a second, as if to double check that it was she the guy was talking to. Finally, Terrina began to walk over. "Uh, hi." Her voice was tentative, but firm and strong nonetheless. She didn't mean to come off cold if she did, but as she got closer she slowly felt liked she recognized him a little more at a time. Those marks on his face... She stopped a few feet away.
"Wait... Jai?" she inquired, one eyebrow lifted in surprise and wonder. Slowly, Terry-Anne felt a smile come to her face. He answered, "Been a long time hasn't it?" and smiled back. She just smiled wider. It truly had been a long time. What has this rascal been up to? she wondered. He tended to be a good kid, but that didn't actually stop him from being such a big tease and bonehead at times. She remembered how she used to get so frustrated with him, but she always did enjoy his company regardless. Consequently, if he decided to be mischevious, she was pulled along.
"Getting lunch?" he asked. She took that as an offer and sat down directly across from him. She laughed and shook her head. "You are so in trouble right now, you fool. Lets see.... It's been, what? Five years? At least? Better have a good story to tell me, Jai," she teased, though it had a ring of truth in it. Then Terry gave the table a little slap. "You know what, screw the teasing, how've you been? I've missed you, 'ya rascal!" She smiled at him, leaning forward eagerly. She wanted to hug him, but they were both already sitting down.
