There was no other explanation. This whole thing was a set-up, some conspiracy they had plotted together. At least, for the respective leaders of Rausten and Frelia. It was too much of a coincidence that, mere moments after the announcement of their engagement to each other, they would be paired as a couple for a couple's event in Renais. It was too much of a coincidence for Aldith to believe that it was truly random. Not that other people in her court were concerned about this matter. Her sister was running around the carnival having fun. Her own council was in Rausten, maintaining the royal duties the sisters left behind for this event, one that she was seeing to be more and more political with each passing moment. Aldith dared not breath a word of any of her concerns to her personal maid, as these were political matters even Aldith needed to respect. While the marriage wasn't necessarily a secret among her people Nuit's people, it seemed that speaking of it here was wrong. First of all, people in Renais seemed to have no idea that the marriage was planned and agreed upon already, and that Aldith was now an engaged woman. She faced evidence of this daily, as people were excited by the festival. Since she was given the opportunity to mingle among the people, and took it, she met the very real challenge of having to usher people away without giving away anything. It gave her an unsettling feeling, she did not like being mean to people and watching their crestfallen faces. But, they seemed to recover promptly. She preferred dealing with the would-be possible suitors herself though, rather than involve Nuit. She didn't know how he might respond to it. And it was another day of festival activities for her, so she took a moment to pray to the Divine Light to guide her, and grant her a peaceful day with no incidents. "Could you please tell Lord Dunstant I am ready?" She said, turning to her personal maid. The young woman nodded, curtsied, and left to deliver the message. Leaving Aldith to gaze absently out of the large, arched glass window in her bedroom. [NUIT DUNSTAN]

Nuit scoured the festival for Lady Aldith, yet he was constantly aware of Ayaka straying close-by him, always observant. While he respected her hard work, he found it rather annoying at the time. No, he wasn't actually annoyed with Ayaka. It was the prospect of other men flirting with Aldith that irked Frelia's king. She was HIS fiance after all. They needed to stay away if they knew what was good for them. There are plenty of men here that she would like better than I... he thought at every turn. So, yes, they'd only been engaged for a short amount of time, he still wanted to give himself to her fully and vice versa. He could very easily be unworthy, however, and needed to try extra hard to prove himself to her, and so he would.

Dunstan was, in reality, terribly uncertain, but he was trying to convince himself that he loved her and she him. The more you pretend, the more you become what you pretend to be, they say.

So was his state of mind when Aldith's personal maid found him and reported that her lady was ready for him. Nuit openly displayed his relief and smiled. "Thank you, I'll be there in just a moment," he said.

Nuit let out a deep breath. She hadn't forgotten about him. Tonight would be wonderful, and Dunstan was determined to make sure of that. This engagement wasn't a mistake, and never will be. The king of Frelia was determined.

When he arrived at Aldith's chambers, his breath was taken away. The light shining on her from the window was bright and brilliant, lighting up her face and clothes as if she were a goddess come to bless the world. He wanted to take this further tonight. He wanted to finally kiss her. He cleared his throat slightly, swallowing down any nerves. "Hello, My Lady Aldith," he said with a smile. "You look especially radiant with that light shining on your face."
